Barça drops Hummels hint

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has said his club are interested in signing a German player, but refused to reveal if it was Mats Hummels.
Hummels, 24, has been heavily linked with Barca in recent months by the Catalan press, and the cultured defender has suggested he would be open to a move to the Camp Nou should an offer arrive.
Asked if there were any Bundesliga stars he was interested in by German TV show Aktuelle Sportstudio, Rosell conceded there was one, but failed to give any further details in fear of weakening the club’s bargaining position.
“There is a German player who I like a lot, but I cannot say his name,” he said. “If, in the end, we go for him, that would drive up the price.”
Hummels’ current Dortmund contract runs until June 2017, but he told Sport Bild last week that Barca were one of the few clubs who could tempt him away.
The La Liga side are expected to sign a world-class defender this summer, with club captain Carles Puyol, 35 last weekend, showing increasing signs of wear and tear, last year’s defensive reinforcement Alex Song having yet to impress and homegrown prospect Marc Bartra, 22, as yet unproven at the highest level.
Lyon’s Dejan Lovren, Chelsea’s David Luiz, Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and Roma’s Marquinhos have also been mentioned in the Catalan press as potential targets, with Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos also getting a mention in the more speculative reports.
